That's usually how the first day works... we don't have anything worthwhile to go on and so essentially if you're going to vote, you're basically throwing at a dartboard.

Just to help us flesh through some things, here would be a list of the main characters from the show and their abilities, which probably translates to their ability in-game:
Peter Petrelli // Mimicry -- Peter can mimic the abilities of those around him. My guess is that he's able to use someone else's power once during a night phase.
Nathan Petrelli // Flight -- Maybe a role blocker of some sort? Kidnapper?
Claire Bennett // Spontaneous regeneration -- I'm going to assume this person cannot be killed during a night phase.
Niki Sanders // Super strength -- Another possible roleblocker?
Micah Sanders // The ability to think like technology. Perhaps an investigative role?
Hiro Nakamura // He is a time traveler. I'm not quite sure what that would translate to in terms of mafia, however.
Mohinder Suresh // He's a Dr. in the show, while chasing after the formula to allow people to develop powers. I don't have the slightest clue what he'd translate to. (CONFIRMED IN WRITE UP)
Matt Parkman // telepathic cop -- Has to be some kind of investigative or role block.
Noah Bennett // No superpower -- Here's where we get to some possible scum roles. In the show, he has no superpower but always has the Haitian by his side to neutralize powers. Possible Godfather?
The Haitian // He is most def. the Mafia role blocker.
Gabriel Gray or "Skylar" -- is the ultimate villain. He can steal other peoples abilities by killing them... my guess is he is either Mafia or third party vigilante.
These aren't all the roles but the ones most likely to be in the game. Isaac Mendes can paint the future but if you look at the writeup, Mohinder was obviously town green while Isaac and Simone were both in white writing.
It will give us a start on who to look for.

I think it's people trying to draw out someone's roles immediately and get a good vibe as to who they are in terms of scum or townie. I'll simply wait for Day 2 to roll around, just so we don't lose anyone valuable at the start based on forced lynchings.

Losing a key individual can have drastic complications and people need to realize this instead of jumping to conclusions quickly ... unless that is what you're hoping to achieve by taking out the people who are trying to think and do something decent.
