So has everyone checked in yet? I think so unless I missed someone. I believe L1 has not checked in yet.

Based on what Noble said, I'd wager no more than 4 anti-town. Whether or not that is 4 scum or 3 scum and a third party role we probably won't be able to tell until the night when the killings start to happen.

It's the tag belts. It shouldn't count. I carried him there anyhow. This is the greatest NON Mafia related Mafia banter ever. I hate day one, and I hate night one even worse. Investigative roles are usually wasted checking sanity...watcher/tracker roles are a shot in the dark....roleblocker roles usually get the wrong people. And scum basically gets a free kill. All I have to say is use your talents wisely tonight friends.

Boyd: Raylan, if a book could only be judged by its cover, you'd be a best seller. DAY 1 VOTE COUNT1 - Kurt Noble (Callahan) With 14 alive, it takes 8 to lynch. DAY 1 DEADLINE REMINDERGMT - 01.40 Sunday 27th May 2012 EST - 20.40 Saturday 26th May 2012 Just under 8 hours. However, given it is day 1 and because it is particularly quiet I may end the day a couple of hours early if nobody has any objections.

Raylan Givens drew his field weapon as he approached the cabin that housed Coover Bennett. However, it wasn’t Coover that Raylan was looking for – the purpose of his visit was Dickie Bennett, the Bennett boy responsible for the death of his aunt, Helen Givens. Upon reaching the door Raylan noticed it was ajar, and nudging it open with his foot he swiftly and smoothly step inside and held up his gun. With a sigh he dropped it and returned it to its holster. Raylan: Arlo, what are you doing here? Arlo: Same reason you’re here, I s’pose. Raylan: I’m here on behalf of the Marshall’s service. Arlo: I heard you tell that statey you were down here as a private citizen. Raylan: I can still arrest people, ya idiot! Arlo took a step back and changed tack. Arlo: You know, after your mother, Helen, my wife’s sister, never hated me, but stepped in to save me regardless. Arlo took a seat and breathed a heavy sigh. Arlo: The last fifteen years have been the best of my life, but now Helen’s dead because of your personal vendetta with the Bennetts. And what is worse, you don’t seem to give a damn about it. Raylan ignored the bait set down by his father. Raylan: I'm sorry Arlo, but I don't see how me exploring my grief is gonna help me find Dickie. Arlo: Well he ain’t here. Raylan: I can see that, but where you gonna look next for him? Arlo: That’s none of your God-damn business. I promised I would kill Dickie and I’m not gonna let you or no-one stop me. Raylan guffawed and rubbed his head. Raylan: Arlo, I never did figure where you were at 2 a.m. when Helen was killed. Arlo: This ain’t my fault you sonofabitch. You can either stand aside, or come with me and nail that dog-leg bastard. Arlo raised a shotgun at his son. Raylan: Remember the last time you pointed a gun at me? Arlo relented and lowered his gun. Arlo: What you gonna do, take me in? Raylan: If that’s what it’s gonna take to stop you doing something stupid. Arlo: And what about your aunt? Doesn’t she deserve better than for that bastard to rot in a cell? Raylan: Arlo, if you know where Dickie is, I want you to tell me here and now.

Night 1U.S. Marshall’s Office Lexington, KentuckyRaylan Givens is at his desk working on a lead that may provide some information about the whereabouts of Dickie Bennett, when his boss, Chief Deputy Marshall Art Mullen, walks up to his desk. Art: I got a call this morning from AUSA David Vasquez. Wants to talk to you about you shooting Boyd Crowder. Raylan: What’s there to talk about? He pulled first. There was a witness. Art: But you see, ten days ago you shot a man in Miami. Put it like this: you were in the first grade; bit a kid every week? They'd start to think of you as a biter. Meanwhile down in Harlan County, Kentucky...Mags Bennett, matriarch of the Bennett criminal family, has called in a meeting with her three boys – Doyle, Dickie and Coover. She is in the process of dressing down Dickie in particular. Mags: You nitwit! Do you know the kinda heat you killing Helen will bring to these parts. Dickie: Mama, I told you – she drew first, what was I s’posed to do? Mags is unconvinced. Mags: What were you doing at the Givens place anyway? Dickie: You gave Boyd Crowder an inch, he took a country mile. I couldn’t let him and Arlo rip us off like that. The eldest boy, Doyle, chief of police in Harlan County, decides to chirp in. Doyle: It ain’t bad enough you re-ignited a war around here, now the marshall is snooping into our business. Dickie: Just give me a chance, I’ll smoke Raylan Givens like a river trout. Mags: Not unless I say so. The words spoken by Mags, like gospel, were concrete and would be enough set aside Dickie’s ambitions. However, surprisingly Doyle came to Dickie’s aid. Doyle: You know, Mama, might not be a bad idea. Mags: And how you s’pose we’re gonna pull that off without inviting the full weight of the federals down upon us. Doyle: Man like Raylan Givens got a lot of enemies. Dickie smiled knowingly, Coover gave out a guttural sound that indicated his assent, but Mags sat silently, churning the idea over in her mind. After several minutes she spoke. Mags: Okay Dickie, you want this move, it’s yours. But this does not come back to the Family. Screw this up and there will not be a second chance, ya hear me? * Several hours later, back in Lexington...Assistant U.S. Attorney David Vasquez waited patiently in the reception area of the Lexington court house, the home of the Lexington Marshall’s office. Raylan Givens arrives to greet him, suspicious of what the AUSA had to ask him. The men exchange greetings. Vasquez: What’s the coffee like in your office? Raylan: Bad! Vasquez: Okay, let’s go out and get some. They step outside into the sunshine. Raylan: Can we cut to the chase, this is about Boyd Crowder, right? Vasquez: Amongst other things. Suddenly, the sound a car breaking to a halt pierced the scene and everyone froze as a hooded man shouted. ?: Raylan Givens! Three shots fired, Raylan hit the deck instinctively and was quickly on his feet, firing shots from his field weapon in the direction of the car fleeing at high speed. After emptying the clip he noticed the faces of those people near him and spun around to find the body of AUSA David Vasquez spread-eagled on the steps of the court house, a pool of blood spreading outwards from his body. Three shots to the chest had done the damage. Raylan Givens looked to the heavens and said quietly. Raylan: Shit! DEADGoodburn – AUSA David Vasquez – Town Lie Detector

We're dealing with an experienced mafia lead here.
Throw the scent off by going for a novice rather than a power player that people know is going to be protected (the Kurt's, the Saltal's, the L1's of the game).

Also taking out the most talkative newbie was one hell of a move as well. Losing the lie detector night one SUCKS balls. I'm looking day one over to see if anything stood out...but being day one, I doubt it. Not really fond of a few of the inactive...but it's only day 2

I guess on the plus side, we now know the scum is a 4 person team, as Noble mentioned, which is at least one positive to take from the night?

I guess on the plus side, we now know the scum is a 4 person team, as Noble mentioned, which is at least one positive to take from the night? I suppose so, ha. I'm willing to take a leap of faith and say that there is not a third party SK, as 5/14 is slightly too high of a percentage to balance the game. Seeing the LD continues my belief that we're playing an investigative game, as there are still multiple cop-characters in play. I suspect cops checked their sanity, and watchers/trackers/etc. won't share unless they hit something big, so I assume we're playing off gameplay today...which unfortunately means paying attention to Day 1. The only note-worthy aspect of Day 1 to me is Envi's lack of appearance. He wasn't replaced or modkilled, but is still listed as a player for the game. He even has logged on during Day 2, but I'll willing to accept that he may just be busy at this time. However, the lack of a Day 1 post needs explanation. Either he's doing a great job ducking us, or something about his role prevented him from talking on Day 1 (Which I believe Gubayama had that aspect attached to his role in Misfits Mafia).

Given the fact that the write up didn't make mention of a third party, I'd assume we don't have one as well. Unless it's like a past game where the SK/third part could only do their business the nights that the mafia didn't...though that seems farfetched.
The only thing that stood out to me from day one, oddly enough (aside from the inactives) was Goodburn. Though, admittedly, that was probably just his play style and me not knowing it (especially since he turned up town). Other than that, all we might have is inactives, as horrible as that is.

Knowing the show as well as I do guys, I wouldn't rule out a third party in this game. It would be easy to throw in 1 or 2 dea or homeland security roles, or maybe even a town rival to maggs (which she has in the show). Certainly, the Boyd Crowder character could be good, evil, or neutral. This show is very twisted as far as allegiance is concerned. So don't rule anything out just yet. As far as my role is concerned, I feel like I should share that yet again, I'm as useless as tits on a fucking bull. This random selection shit always seems to give me bullshit roles. If you can't tell, I'm kind of irritated about the whole thing.

I'm not ruling anything out..... but with 4 confirmed mafios in the writeup.... I can't see there being yet a 5th or 6th anti town role.
Either way, we're chasing our tails talking about this. Fact of the matter is there are plenty of anti townies out there, we're down 1 so at best case scenario it's 9town/4mafia. The Inactives, while not necessarily suspicious, are a bane against the town and aren't helping our cause.....we've heard "I'm here" from envi, and barely much more from a few others.
They need to speak up and speak up now.

My role is pretty useless so I'm little to no help here right now. We probably won't have anything to go on until Day 3, but never know, maybe someone else has some good info to share

I'm not sure I'm willing to buy the fact that Farq has put two "dud" roles in this game to be honest. One, maybe. But two? Standard Mafia protocol suggests that a third of your town players should be vanilla but given that almost everyone has a power in APW Mafia Games (save for me in Heroes, where I was completely vanilla and even then I was in a masons group) I'm not so sure it's to be believed that both you two are as useless as you'd make yourself out to be?

Checking in. I'm with Callahan because, anytime you say you have a shit role, it mostly means you are trying to throw one side off whether it be mafia or town.

I've got to be honest... Maybe it's paranoia, but I feel like either Jeff is trying to confuse us with his "useless role" after I came out about mine, or Mr. Callahan is very crafty, and knew that mentioning that could lead to a town lynch. And TJ jumping right on Callahans bandwagon after JUST "checking in" looks a little odd to me as well. Just expressing my opinions, it's all I can really do.

Post by T-Marv on May 28, 2012 15:08:18 GMT -4
Perhaps TJ just jumping on board like that does appear suspicious, but that doesn't mean Callahan isn't right. Two "useless" roles seems a little far fetched for APW mafia.
Also.... just because you don't have an informative role or ACTIVE power doesn't mean it's useless.
Take my role for instance....It's not active or informative, but it is FAR from useless. Let's not confuse the two.
