VOTE COUNT: Kris- 1 (Captain Metro) The Soul- 1 (Manic) Bacon- 1 (Blade)MOD NOTE: I'm out 'til tomorrow night. We're waiting for Goodburn to report in so instead of calling Bar Phase 1 early I'll simply wait the rest out so he can state his arrival. Otherwise it'll be Mod-Kill rather than Replacement (I struggled to get fifteen people in this game alone, finding a replacement is going to be harder). Deadline is about 8PM tomorrow.

Question for you guys since it's day one and (as usual) slow as molasses: Do we think there's a third party in this game? I was reading over the first post in the thread outlining the rules, and there was nothing said about one. That said, it's obviously a huge component of the game if it exists, I don't know the variant too well, and this is my first Callahan-modded Mafia game (so I don't know if he could be playing Sneaky Mod and not telling us something!).

I don't know the flavor all that much to tell if there's a third party, and while it doesn't state it in the rules, you never know.

Final vote count remains as it was at last count. Metro, re-read the rules. Unvoting is a must before you revote again. Yes, I'm being completely anal about this.
With that, Day 1 ends with a No Lynch and a mod-kill.
MODKILL: Goodburn, Officer Smythe, X-Shot Powers
RACE PHASE 1 BEGINS NOW WITH A HIGH SPEED DASH THROUGH NAPA VALLEY (Right Hand Drive). ALL RACE ACTIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED BEFORE 9PMGMT, SATURDAY, 7TH JULY.

Sigh.
Once again, due to unforeseen screwing up I have to push this back another 12 hours. This is the last time night phase will be pushed back.
This game is off to a horrendous start and I apologise. Thank you all for being patient with me.

RACE 1 NAPA VALLEY ROAD RASH MAFIA
We cut to an ambiguous Interpol office somewhere on the West Coast of the United States where dedicated and hard-working Japanese traffic cop Sakurai is in a conference call with an agent from Interpol in order to correspond information on her investigations. Her car crash white officers cap which she wears with beaming pride is contrasted by cascading raven locks which curl around her shoulders.
Interpol Agent: Sakurai?
Captain Sakurai: Yes, Agent Johnson-san?
Interpol Agent: Have your partners arrived at the office yet? We have an important matter that requires your immediate attention.
Captain Sakurai: I am sorry but there is a problem Agent-san. Eiskopf-san has arrived but Smythe-san has not. Our sources say his taxi on the way to the airport was struck off the road by a heavy goods vehicle and he has been too injured to participate with us.
Interpol Agent: No matter. I'm sure the two of you can handle this yourself. Have you had the chance to read over Eiskopf's file?
Captain Sakurai: Yes, Agent-san. His history is... strange, but Eiskopf-san's dedication to the career is admirable.
Interpol Agent: The guy is a little unorthodox but he's a damn fine cop. Right, okay. Is he with you now?
Idly filing his nails while paying as little attention as possible to the conversation between the agent and Sakurai, the creepy German officer who nobody knew was even in the room announces his presence much to Sakurai's shock.
Officer Eiskopf: Ja, I'm here. Are we going to get our teeth into some bikers today? I'm hungering for flesh right now...
Interpol Agent: Yes actually Eiskopf, that's exactly what we have planned. You're not far from Napa Valley, that's where their first race is. Go out and see if you can arrest yourself some racers. Even if you have to disassemble them one by one, as long as we get them eventually that's all that matters.
-
Just outside the Grizzly Lounge, the Rashers are fine-tuning their bikes one last time before the big dash to Oakland and making pre-race bets amongst themselves strangely unaware of the new face that's arriving to join the gang. At the back of the starting grid in today's race is Natasha who's idly typing away on her smart phone when the presence of The Player grabs her attention.
Natasha: Hey, I haven't seen you around before. You must be new. You got a name?
The Player looks around to see if there's anyone else she could possibly be talking to. Sadly for him though he realises that there's nobody else there, just him and her. He sighs and shakes his head.
The Player: You can call me what you want. I'm not here to make a name for myself, I'm here to race.
Natasha: Ooh, the mysterious guy persona. You must be quite the ladies man. A player huh?
The Player: I guess you can say that...
A rare smile twitches across the face of the young Socialist. Despite the often hostile nature towards newcomers that the Rashers have, Natasha finds herself warming up to this mysterious stranger.
Natasha: You're a slick guy but let's see how you can race.
Putting on their biking helmets (because when you're a lunatic illegal road racer, safety is of obvious importance) they clamber onto their souped up sports bikes and rev their engines as a scantily clad girl in booty shorts takes up the front with a chequered flag. Counting to three, she waves the flag off and the race begins. All is well and comfortable for the first ten miles or so but after a while of pleasant, often violent racing police sirens are head. Lawson who's leading the pack is the first to notice the roadblock waiting for them which he narrowly avoids by swerving out onto the grass and going around them. This is a move emulated by most of the other rashers including Biff, Sergio and Scab Boy but one man begs to make a difference.
Ikira tries to speed his way through a slim gap between two parked police jeeps and just about makes it until an officer at the other side gives him a baton to the face for his audacity. Flying off his bike and hitting the ground hard, the bike continues to speed on without a rider as Sakurai slaps on a set of handcuffs to an unconscious Ikira. It pains her to ruin someone's fun, especially after one of her officers just broke the guys nose but order must be upheld.
BUSTED: Johnny Rebel, Ikira, Town Watcher (Voyeur Night 2), Night 1
Bar Phase 2 now begins at the Farmers Arms Pub on the Isle of Man, England. WARNING: YOU ARE NOW ON LEFT HAND DRIVE. THIS WILL LEAD TO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT NIGHT POWERS. CAUTION IS ADVISED.
With 13 players left alive, it takes 7 votes for a lynch.
ALIVE PLAYERS: 1. A.C. Smith 2. Bacon 3. Blade 4. Captain Metro 5. Chaz Dillinger 6. Crown Jules 7. C.J. Gates 8. Gubayama Takagi 9. Kris 10. Manic 11. Stefan Raab 12. Terry Marvin 13. The Soul

Well, that answers my third-party question pretty convincingly, doesn't it?
Shame that we had to have a mod-kill, but good for the town that a scum player got the boot and not one of the green guys (makes it as good as a good lynch). Unfortunately, we now have a third party to deal with, one that appears to be able to recruit into his faction.

No, Bacon. Third party can recruit people into their own separate group-- or, at least, that's the theory being put forth, one that makes sense if you go by the write-up.

'The Player' being the third party, right? He sounds topnotch. but i mean: GO TOWN GO! Why would you post this? If you're town and trying to get a laugh, it didn't work with me. All it did is give off serious scum vibes for the first time in this day phase. I'm by no means in any position to cast a vote yet, but this stuff gets my juices flowing. If you're town, it's annoying and doesn't serve a purpose. If you're scum, it does you no good.

EBWOP
After doing some thinking, assuming that all non-town characters have been accounted for in the writeup, here's what we're dealing with.
Town: 9 Mafia: 2 (Sakurai, Eiskopf) Third-party: 2 (The Player, Natasha)
My other questions: We know the third-party can recruit, judging by the writeup. But can they also kill? Furthermore, did they try to kill on night one, and were they blocked?

If you're scum, it does you no good. oh gee mister, sorry for acknowledging how cool 'the player' was written as being. please don't crucify me, mister. i swear not to do it again. gee, i didn't mean to write so thoughtlessly. honestly i see what i did wrong there. again, i swear to only do things that'll keep the seriousness alive, but i must say, the paranoia goes both ways!!! are you trying to throw suspicion on me by capitalizing on my cheap gag like a true scum would? ultimately your comment can be misinterpreted and give us a double-edge sword effect. over-analyzing, fuck yeah!

Maybe go to Silverstone circuit next to race. hey now, you shouldn't post something like that because to a very small degree it sounds scummy. how so, you wonder? because you wrote, 'HEHE' and 'this actually sounds fun' which could allude to some foul play on your end. just a heads up, bro. don't want any townies dying over the littlest thing. it's an excellent game. Callahan is an excellent host, too. i suspect when this is all over, the dark horse that is road rash will be widely acclaimed as an underrated game full of suspense and laughs.

This left-hand drive thing intrigues me, I'm wondering if it just makes all night actions unsuccessful, or completely reverses/changes them. This could make for some potentially pain in the arse gameplay, but also fairly interesting.
As for the character count/list Smith posted, I think 3 Mafia originally seems a bit low for the game.

The above smells like spin control to me. Give me a reason to think otherwise. in short, you're basically saying, "it's pretty dumb / weird for you to write something that could easily be interpreted as scum" and since this is APW who runs Mafia games aaaaall the tiiiiime, veteran players would likely assume either that or "he's not trying to blend in so he mustn't be scum" or "i remember last time how gubayama played. he's an unconventional player. we thought he was scum but nope: we were wrooooooooong" however you 'spin' this, discussion is good. it gets the gears going! people will slowly come out of their dens looking to capitalize, which will lighten the dark, eh?
